First Impressions

My first impressions of covering the city of McKinney are… slightly unimpressed. It’s certainly not an uneventful city, but obviously, when compared to cities like Dallas or Fort Worth, it comes up a bit short in dramatic happenings.

Nevertheless, there still seems a decent amount of things to cover in this city, as would be true of any city. Named as the single best place to live in the United States by Money Magazine, stories that contrast with that picture-perfect image, I believe, will round out McKinney as a real place.

One story I’m hoping to cover from a different angle is the unanimous support of Jess Herbst has in McKinney, the first openly trans gendered Mayor in Texas. She is now Mayor of New Hope, just a few minutes East of McKinney. I’ve already established contact with the new Mayor, and hope to follow up more on that story, soon.
